Housing Units Coming to North Topeka Offer Low Monthly Payments

"A persons health is 60% the zip code that they live in," says Marsha Pope, president of the Topeka Community Foundation.
" affordable housing can be a game changer for them."
WIBW reports the foundation is providing a $300,000 loan to fund the construction of 25 new apartments for low-income residents.
The apartments will be located in the north side of the city and will cost tenants $550 to $600 per month with utilities included.
The project is part of the foundation's impact investment program.
"This is 25 units," Pope says.
"Is that going to solve our affordable housing problem' it's not, but 25 units is a step forward and like the mayor said, it's inspirational and aspirational."
